Improvement

I've been trying to improve my figure drawing as well as mess around with using copic markers. After visiting CalArts I got some good advice from the very talented Nak! He told me to hold the pencil in a different way, so this was the result of my first attempt when I was practicing on my own.

After some trial and error I started to get more comfortable with holding the pencil in the new position. I noticed it makes very beautiful lines! It's meant to allow you to use your shoulder and elbows instead of your wrist when drawing.

I have a bad tendency to overwork my lines, which kinda sucks the life out of the poses. I was told to work on my line definition more, and that would help to communicate the poses more clearly.

These are some drawings from my second attempt with that new advice in mind!

I feel like I improved a bit my second go around! I also got a bit better at using copic markers :P
The figure drawings in this one were 30 seconds (top middle and everything to the right) and 2 minutes (the rest besides the copic marker drawing).

I'm slowly improving!

Portfolio Artwork

This is some of the old artwork that I sent in with my portfolio to different art schools. This work was done around August to November of 2013. Still much improvement to go!
